Funeral services for Mrs. Vivian Olean Broadus, 98, of Antioch Community will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2025 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Adams Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1-2:00 p.m. Sunday prior to the service at Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mrs. Vivian Olean Barnett Broadus was born August 29, 1926 in the Galloway Community of Panola county, Texas. She passed this life peacefully January 16, 2025 in Carthage, Texas. Olean was one of 11 children born to the marriage of Lessee May Baker and James Homer Barnett. She was raised and schooled in Galloway. She married Jerry Glen Broadus and they have celebrated almost 60 years of marriage. Mrs. Broadus was the first woman hired at Louisiana Pacific as a lumber grader. She was a loving homemaker to her family, talented community seamstress for family, friends, and was skilled in quilting. She loved the outdoors hunting and fishing and riding the roads to the deer camp and hitting garage sales along the way. She was a member of the Deadwood Methodist Church. Olean is preceded in death by her parents, all her ten siblings; and two sons, Tommy and Danny Jo Wilkerson. Mrs. Broadus is survived by her devoted husband Jerry Broadus of Carthage; son, Randall Wilkerson of Deadwood; daughters, Judy Palmer of Lake Cherokee, Jeanette Hart and husband Walt of Carthage; daughter-in-law, LaJuana Wilkerson; nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
