Vivian T. (Sand) Chobot, age 94 of Mendon, died Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Maple Lawn Medical Care in Coldwater. She was born in Chicago on Oct. 28, 1927 the daughter of John and Bridget "Bridie" (Phelan) Sand. She attended schools in Chicago and worked for Westinghouse Electric Supply in Elmhurst, IL for 27 years as an accounting clerk, and later as a supervisor. She was married to Edwin J. Chobot on Jan. 18, 1947 in Chicago. They retired to Mendon in October of 1987. In her spare time, she enjoyed ceramics and gardening.
Vivian is survived by five children, Barbara (Robert) Sapp of Chicago, Edwin (Judith) Chobot, Jr. of Sturgis, John (Brenda) Chobot of Mendon, Rich (Pamela) Chobot of Glen Ellen, and Donna (Rodney) Cupp of Mendon; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by
her parents; her husband, Edwin; siblings, William Sand, Nancy Jean McClain, Gerald Sand, Philip Sand, Lorraine Sturgill, and Donald Sand.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 20, 2022 from 2p-4p and 6p-8p at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon and where the Rosary will be recited at 7:45p. The funeral mass will be Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 11a at St. Edward Catholic Church with Msgr. Thomas A. Martin officiating. Burial will be in St. Edward Catholic Cemetery. It is suggested that memorial contributions be directed to Maple Lawn Medical Care. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.eickhofffuneralhome.com
