Vivian Jo "Vivi Jo" Ramos de Garcia, age 77, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday September 21, 2025, in Alexandria, Louisiana.

Born on May 7, 1948, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, Vivian was the daughter of Jose and Dora Ramos. She grew up surrounded by the warmth of family and the vibrant culture of her birthplace. Her early years laid the foundation for a life centered around love, care, and unwavering devotion to those closest to her. She spent her childhood in Puerto Rico, graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the University of Puerto Rico, and then lived in Texas for three years before settling in Louisiana with her husband, where she remained until her passing.

Vivian was a devoted wife and mother who spent her days taking care of those she loved. Her nurturing spirit and steadfast presence were constants in the lives of her family. Never one to hold her opinion back, her blunt and honest nature was well known to those around her. Vivian was not only proudly Puerto Rican in attitude and spirit, but also in heart. She gave thoughtfully to many without needing the recognition or accolades of those around her. When she gave generously, no one knew. Understanding the challenges non-English speakers face day to day, Vivian founded and organized a monthly medical clinic for the underserved Spanish speaking community of CenLa.

Vivian shared a long and loving marriage of 54 years with her husband, Jose Garcia. Together they raised two sons-Roberto Garcia, married to Zulma Laracuente, and Ernesto Garcia, married to Kristi Garcia-instilling in them the same values of compassion and dedication that defined Vivian's life.

Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren who knew her simply as Abuela, or Abu for short: Sofia, Andy, Sydney, Webb, and Ella Bleu. Each one brought immense joy to her life and held a special place in her heart. Vivian also shared a close bond with her brother Melvin Ramos, his wife Diana, and her sister-in-law Oni.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Jose and Dora Ramos, as well as her brother Stuart Ramos.

Vivian's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her quiet strength and boundless love left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to be part of her life.

In accordance with her wishes the family will forego a funeral service and instead hold a celebration of life at a future date allowing time for friends and family from Puerto Rico to attend.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
