Vivian Wood French, 91, of Spartanburg, SC, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late John Clarence Wood and Clarice Gore Wood. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Vivian dedicated her life to her family and to her faith. She was a faithful and active member of Glendale Baptist Church, where she found joy in worship, singing in the choir and fellowship.

Vivian is survived by her three daughters: Debbie Burnett, Pam Moore (Harry), and Kim Gregg (Michael); seven grandchildren: Nicole Collins (Carrol), Ashley Brewer (Adam), Colten Burnett, Kailey Speer (Alex), Drew Gregg (Courtney), Haley Poole (Matt), and Trent Gregg (Leah); ten great-grandchildren, one precious great-great-grandson; her sister: Jean Donald (John); and her brother, Haskell Wood (Nancy).

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Walter Fench; her brothers: Joe Wood and Booney Wood; and her sister: Wilma Hester; one son-in-law: Brad Burnett; her mother-in-law: Dorthy Shriver.

Vivian’s legacy of faith, kindness, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her. She had a gift for baking and was famous for her pound cake which became a family and friends’ favorite dessert.

A funeral service to honor Vivian’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main St, Spartanburg, SC 29307 with Rev. Daniel Blackwell officiating the service. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 10:00 AM. The burial will follow the service in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Glendale Baptist Church or to a charity of one’s choice.
