Nita Hall, age 94, died on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Southern Manor Assisted Living center in Statesboro, GA. Mrs. Hall was born in Bulloch County, GA, the last of 6 children born to the late William Hugh and Rosa Hayes Turner. Nita's family moved to Waynesboro GA where she graduated from Waynesboro High School in 1947. Beginning in 1954, she worked 4 years in the Burke County Sheriff's Office and was given the title of deputy, which earned her the nickname "prettiest sheriff in Georgia" from admiring State troopers. In 1958, she met Leon Hall and after a nearly yearlong courtship, they married on May 2nd, 1959. They moved several times during their marriage, living in New Orleans LA, Beaufort SC, and Atlanta GA before settling in her current home of Statesboro GA. Nita spent her last years as a resident of Southern Manor Assisted Living in Statesboro where she made many new friends. Surrounded by the love and care of the staff, Nita was embraced as part of the Southern Manor family.
Nita enjoyed crocheting, camping, traveling, gardening, fashion, collecting all types of treasures and spending time with her family. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Statesboro where she attended the Alathean Sunday School class and sang with the Senior Adult Choir. She remained active into her later years as she joined numerous mission trips and tours in the United States and beyond. At age 76, she was part of a church mission trip to Novosibirsk in central Russia. Two years later she joined a church tour to the Holy Land in Israel where she walked in many of the places visited by her Savior, Jesus Christ, during His earthly ministry. In addition to her parents, Nita was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Hall; two sisters, Nell Banks and Jean Daniel; and three brothers, Cecil Turner, William Troy Turner, and Wiliam Roger Turner.
She is survived by her son Steven (Lesa) Hall and several nieces and nephews.
