A funeral service for Vivian Ann Powers Lassiter, age 89, will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, October 4, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Ruston with Rev. Clayton Owen and Dr. Chris Craig officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Ruston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 PM, Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Owens Memorial Chapel. Services are under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.
Mrs. Vivian died a little after noon on September 30, 2024 at her home in Ruston, LA. Mrs. Vivian loved everyone, especially children, and she enjoyed decades of teaching in Kentucky, California, and Louisiana. She met her husband, Rev. Perry Lassiter, in 1958 in Louisville, Kentucky where they both sang in the church choir. They were married on June 6, of 1959. He had attended and graduated Southern Seminary in Louisville and she was teaching. Vivian loved the people of each of the churches in which they faithfully served: Calvary Baptist Church, Tulare, CA; Woodlawn Baptist Church, Rayville, LA; First Baptist Church, Many, LA; New Chapel Hill Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA; Hodge Baptist Church, Hodge, LA; and Southside Baptist Church, Ruston, LA. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Vivian is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Perry Lassiter.
She is survived by her children: son, Brad Lassiter and his wife Mary; son, Brian Lassiter; and daughter, Ann Trichel and her husband Todd; ten grandchildren: Jessica Lee Lassiter, Bradley M Lassiter (B2), DeRay P Snyder, William C Pullig, Jeremy H Lassiter, Tristen D Lassiter, Jessica Dedmon, Levi Branson, Remy Griffin, and Chaston Trichel; 24 great grandchildren; and countless other family members and friends.
