Millennium, NC - Samuel Lawrence Lassiter, age 71, affectionately known as "Sammy," passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at his home with his beloved wife by his side. A native of Hertford County, Sammy was born on October 6, 1953, in Ahoskie, NC, to the late Sam Harrell Lassiter and Betty Rawls Lassiter.

Sammy dedicated 40 years of his life working as a telephone technician, where he was admired for his keen sense of humor and strong work ethic. Upon retiring, he enjoyed spending time in his cherished hometown of Millennium, NC, where his heart truly belonged. Known for his love of Southern Gospel music and his unwavering support for his favorite team, the UNC Tar Heels, Sammy could often be found sharing his collection of corny jokes and puns, spreading laughter and joy to those around him.

Sammy's radiant spirit and kind-hearted nature are fondly remembered by all who knew him. Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife Tammy, his cherished daughters, Dr. Lane Rice and her husband Rev. Dr. Aaron Rice of Cherryville, NC, and Carol Lassiter and her husband Richard Cary of Blue Ridge, VA; his precious grandchildren, Henry Rice and Kati Fletcher Rice; his loving sister, Jewell Lassiter Jilcott, and her husband Steve of Eure, NC; along with many extended family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Sam and Betty Lassiter.

A celebration of Sammy's life will take place on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church in Aulander, NC, with Rev. Taylor Latham and Rev. Brandon Higson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Job Cemetery in Aulander, NC. Pallbearers will include Sgt. Luther Byrd, Dr. Steven Jilcott, Mr. Bryan Jilcott, Mr. Jimmy Lassiter Dr. Aaron Rice, and Mr. John Turner

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Liberty Hospice for their care and love shown to Sammy over the last year.
