James Hughson Obituary

As a dedicated Supervisor with Fred Smith Company, Jamie was known for his unwavering commitment to his work and his exceptional leadership. A true "man's man," whose word carried significant weight and respect among his colleagues, friends, and family.
Above all, Jamie cherished his family. He profoundly loved his wife, Gwen Ambrose Hughson, with whom he shared twenty-eight wonderful years of marriage. His pride extended deeply to his beloved children, Emma Hughson of Asheville, and Ethan Hughson of Buies Creek, whom he supported unconditionally in all their endeavors and educational pursuits. His selflessness and dedication were admired by all who knew him.
Jamie is also survived by his parents, Rev. Al Hughson and his wife Diane of Ahoskie; his sister, Jean Fuller and her husband Jason of Midlothian, VA; his niece, Rachel Rohr, and nephew, Ryan Rohr. He leaves behind many extended family members and a host of friends who will miss him dearly. Jamie Hughson will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service in Ahoskie, NC. A celebration of Jamie's life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM, also at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow at Edgewood Cemetery in Windsor, NC.
Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.garrettsykesfs.com. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service - Ahoskie Chapel in Ahoskie, NC.
