Vivian Ann Sumner Long, 82, of Newberry, widow of Ellis Ray Long, passed away at her home on Friday, June 28, 2024.
Born on October 10, 1941 to the late Savannah Shaw and Marion Jefferson “Sonny” Sumner, she worked at Anderson Hosiery for a number of years before becoming a homemaker. Mrs. Long was a member of Newberry Church of God of Prophecy, and loved to read her Bible every day, striving to be a loving and devoted Christian. She also loved gardening, but most of all she adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cherishing her time with them.
Mrs. Long is survived by her son, Tracy (Wendy) Long; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Sexton and David (Regenea) Long; and great-grandchildren, Elijah, Kera, Nolan, and James.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Ruth Hamilton, Lillie Mae Sample, and Judy Wise; and brother, James “Pop” Sumner.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Monday, July 1, 2024 at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Reverend Dr. Ricky Harris. The family will receive friends following the service.
