Vivian June (Walter) Miller: beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother. Vivian was born June 18, 1924 in Wymore, Nebraska to Frank Swalley and Grace Idella (Getty) Walter. Her brother, Ted Lowell, was born August 5, 1925. Her family moved to her grandparent's farm in Waco, Nebraska in 1933. She enjoyed being outdoors, church and school activities in addition to working on the family farm.
She was in the graduating class of 1941 from Waco High School. She attended York Business College for a year and later took courses at the University of Nebraska. She met Kenneth Eugene Miller on a blind date in 1942 and they were married May 23, 1943 at the family home in Waco.
Ken was drafted into the Army and served in World War II. Keith LeRoy was born on August 8, 1944. Vivian and Keith lived with Vivian's parents in Waco until Ken returned home from military service. They moved to Columbus, Nebraska, where June Marie was born on March 7, 1948.
Soon after, the family moved to Schuyler, Nebraska and opened a Dairy Queen and a gas station. Later, Vivian also worked at a bank. They moved back to Columbus in 1958, and Vivian remained there after Ken's death on December 30, 1991. Vivian worked in various accounting roles at Behlen Manufacturing in Columbus for 24 years before retiring.
Vivian's interests included golf, needlework, and music. Following Ken's death, Vivian took up quilting and this led to many relationships, experiences, and masterpieces.
Vivian moved to Minnesota in 2008. She lived at The Willows and The Farmstead in Andover. She passed away October 25, 2025 at GracePointe Crossing in Cambridge at the age of 101.
A service of memorial is to be held at The Farmstead in Andover at 1:30pm on November 1, 2025. Burial will be at Aurora Cemetery in Aurora, Nebraska.
Vivian was preceded in death by her father Frank Walter, her mother Grace Walter, her brother Ted Walter, her husband Ken Miller, and her son Keith Miller.
Vivian is survived by her daughter June Konopka; granddaughter Theresa (Chad) Chryst; granddaughter Patricia (Bruce) Dahlman; and great-grandchildren Isaiah Chryst, Parker Dahlman, Hannah Chryst, Julia Chryst, Paige Dahlman, and Thomas Chryst.
