Vivian W. Mott, 77, went to her heavenly home early in the morning of Monday, September 1, 2025 and is now dancing with the angels and family who have gone before her.
A church service will be officiated by Father Andrew Canaan at 3 pm on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church on 4th Street, Greenville, NC.
Vivian was predeceased by her parents, Rosella Toby and Herman Wilson; her husband, Don Mott; her sister, Vicki Hatt; her son, Robert Buckner. Close family remaining to cherish her memory include her daughter, Courtney Buckner; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; aunts and uncles and brothers and sisters.
Vivian was born September 8, 1947 in Middlesboro, KY to the late Rosella Toby and Herman Wilson. Her mother taught her life-long lessons of hard work, love, generosity and doing for others. Vivian grew up in central Indiana and moved to Tennessee prior to giving birth to her 2 children, Courtney and Robert. She met and married Donald L. Mott in 1983, and gained many sons, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She received her undergraduate and graduate degree for the University of Tennessee and her Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of Georgia. She became involved in Rotary in Tennessee and joined the Monday Noon Rotary Club when she moved to Greenville after graduation and she was the Associate Dean for Faculty Excellence and Graduate Studies and worked at ECU for 25 years. Vivian loved to knit, read, and volunteer at her church. She made friends quickly and loved her neighbors.
