Vivian Rose Wray, a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2025, at the age of 77. Born in Jeffersonville, Indiana, on a crisp morning of December 20, 1947, Vivian brought warmth and kindness to everyone she met throughout her life.
Vivian was a devoted homemaker, whose greatest joy was her family. Known for her exceptional culinary skills, she loved bringing her family together over delicious home-cooked meals. Her grandchildren cherished the time spent with her, especially during spirited games of cards and board games, where her competitive spirit (and alleged cheating ways) could light up any room.
Her heart was full with the love she shared for her family and her loyal dog, Simba. A nature enthusiast at heart, Vivian enjoyed the simple joys of watching birds and deer. She was a passionate supporter of Lou City Soccer, delighting in every match.
Vivian is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, James Wray; her devoted daughter Tammy Asher (Brandy); her sons James Wray, Jr. (Joann) and Eric Wray; her brothers Bruce Taylor, Dale, and Rusty Matthews; and her sister, Becky Taylor. Her legacy continues in her six cherished grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her dear parents, Bruce Taylor and Autumn Matthews; her brothers Eddie and Herman Taylor; and her sister Jackie Doyle.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Vivian's life at Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172). Visitation will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, immediately followed by the funeral service at 1:00 pm.
Vivian's life was a testament to the beauty of love, family, and kindness. Her warmth and laughter will be deeply missed but forever cherished by all who knew her.
