Vlade Vucelich

1926 - 2023

Vlade "Val" Vucelich, 97, formerly of Jeannette, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Mountain View Senior Living. He was born Feb. 1, 1926, in Export, to the late Vlade Vucelich Sr. and the late Mary Kukich Vucelich. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose, his son, Michael, and all eight siblings. Vlade served in the Navy on the U.S.S. Santee (CVE-29) during World War ll and was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation for extraordinary heroism. He was known for his strong work ethic, enjoyed cultivating his garden and fruit orchard and playing his accordion, was an avid storyteller and proud of his Serbian heritage. He is survived by his children, Peter (Kelly) Vucelich, of Glenmoore, Pa., Roseann (David) Lane, of Manassas, Va., Thomas Vucelich Sr., of Evans City, Martha (Scott) Borges, of Seaford, Va., Virginia (Daniel Cimpi) Craig, of Wake Forest, N.C., Robert Vucelich, of Jeannette, and Steven (Kim) Vucelich, of Delaware, Ohio. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tamera, Thomas Jr., Kelsey, Benjamin, Joshua and Mark; and great-grandchildren, Adalyn, Elliana and Max. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the LINDSAY-JOBE FUNERAL HOME INC., 3343 Route 130, Harrison City. Private interment with military honors will take place Monday at Grandview Cemetery, Export. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Vlade's name may be made to Westmoreland Food Bank.
