Services for Vonda Curtis, 53, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, August 22, 2025, at Bartley Funeral Home, with Sis. Delana Wheeler, Bro. Donnie Herring, and Bro. Homer Morgan officiating.
Interment will be in Creagleville Cemetery.
Mrs. Curtis passed away August 19, 2025, in Tyler, after a lengthy illness. She was born December 5, 1971, in Grand Saline, to Dennis Lynn and Dometra Juanice Johnson Chitty. Vonda was a lifelong resident of Grand Saline and a graduate of Grand Saline High School, class of 1990. On August 21, 1993, she married Danny Curtis at Roundflat Pentecostal Church in Fruitvale, Texas.
Vonda was a member of Riverside Mission Church, Grand Saline. She was the owner and operator of Hair Benders beauty salon in Grand Saline for many years. She enjoyed cooking for her family, and she especially loved her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Memaw.”
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dometra Juanice “Dee Dee” Johnson Chitty.
Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Danny Curtis of Grand Saline; father, Dennis Chitty and wife Phyllis of LaRue; two sons, Coltin Curtis of Grand Saline and Luke Curtis and wife Ashley of Van; daughter, Danielle Fowler and husband Lance of Fruitvale; daughter-in-law, Laura Curtis of Grand Saline; two brothers, Marc Chitty and wife Heather of Grand Saline and David Chitty of Gun Barrel City; four grandchildren, Maddix Curtis, Kyler Curtis, Hadley Fowler, and Miles Fowler; father-in-law and mother-in-law, L.C. and Charlotte Curtis of Grand Saline; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jeff and Karen Means of Fruitvale; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Coltin Curtis, Luke Curtis, Maddix Curtis, Kyler Curtis, Bob Crawford, Lance Fowler, Randall Morgan, and Jeff Means.
Honorary pallbearers will be Hadley Fowler and Miles Fowler.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the funeral home.
