Wade Randal Kelson
Passed away unexpectedly on October 2, 2025, at the age of 59.
Born on July 22, 1966 in Westlake, California, Wade is the son of Frank and Teddy Kelson. He spent his early childhood in Westlake before moving with his family to Salt Lake City, Utah, at the age of 16.
Wade is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Carrie Kelson; his oldest daughter Randee Williams and her husband Brandin Williams, youngest daughter Frankie Kelson Hansen and her husband Jorgen Hansen; and five beloved grandchildren: Ava Teddy and Kwade Lewis Williams, McCoy Broc, Walker Neal, and Weston Wade Hansen. He is also survived by his father Frank Kelson, Brothers Todd (Kelli) Kelson, Shane (Ola) Kelson.
Preceded by his sons Broc and Casey, and his mother Teddy Kelson.
From a young age, Wade was known for his fearless, adventuresome spirit - earning the nickname "Wide Open Wade." That spirit carried through every chapter of his life.
Wade began his career in the construction industry as a teenager, working as a framer before mastering various trades. His natural drive and creativity eventually led him to become a respected general contractor, known for his vision and craftsmanship. He built not just homes, but opportunities, creating multiple businesses throughout his life.
Wade met Carrie in high school, and the two married in August of 1987. Together, they raised four children and built a life full of love, hard work, and adventure. In 2009, Wade and Carrie moved to their favorite place Lake Havasu City, AZ, along with their children. There, Wade and Broc continued his talent and skill into the construction community. His drive and passion has always been contagious, creating the family dynamic of the Kelco Homes we see today.
Wade was the definition of working hard and playing harder. Doing everything with passion and purpose. When he wasn't putting his heart into his work, he was out adventuring - boating on the lake, off-roading in the dunes, racing, or traveling anywhere the next thrill awaited.
More than anything, Wade loved being surrounded by family and friends. He had a rare gift for making everyone feel welcome, included, and loved. He treated countless "adopted" children and grandchildren as his own, embodying a spirit of generosity and warmth that left a mark on everyone he met.
Wade was the most fun-loving, energetic man we've ever known. He could walk into a room and instantly light it up - that big laugh, that spark, that presence that pulled everyone in. To those who knew him, he wasn't just a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, or friend - he was a legend. His stories, kindness, and unstoppable spirit will continue to live on through his family, his friends, and the community he so deeply loved.
He leaves behind a legacy of strength, heart, and adventure - teaching us all that true strength isn't about never falling, but about always standing back up again, with all of your heart, every time.
Services will be held Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 12:30pm.
Lake Havasu Golf Club
2400 Clubhouse Dr, Lake Havasu City AZ 86406
Followed by a procession to Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens.
Celebration of life to begin at 3:30, at the Lake Havasu Golf Club.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to the "WRK Opportunity Foundation" for the opportunity fund: Zelle to [email protected] to go to a school in San Felipe, Mexico. Wade found joy and purpose in this community, helping children pursue education and opportunity. Through your generosity, his love for San Felipe will continue to make a difference in the lives he so deeply cared about. Wade was always quoting "Never take advantage of people, only opportunities."
