Wade H Odom

Wade H. Odom, age 83, of Roan Mountain, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Wade was born in Banner Elk, North Carolina to the late Charlie and Etta (Hughes) Odom. In addition to his parents, Wade was also preceded in death by a brother, G.W. Odom.
Wade retired from Summer Taylor Road Construction after 45 years of service as a concrete foreman. He loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren and was a man of great faith. Wade was a devout and loyal member of Cove Creek Presbyterian Church until his health declined and he could not attend services. Wade loved to fish, being outdoors, hiking, raising his garden, walking the Appalachian trail and going to Cloudland High School sports games, in fact he never missed a game until his illness.
Wade leaves a legacy of love to be remembered by his wife, Christine Odom, of the home; his daughter, Ruth Ann Odom of Roan Mountain; his son, Randal Odom of Roan Mountain; his granddaughter, Christin Johnson-James of Roan Mountain; his grandsons, Lukas Sparks of Winston Salem, NC, Brandon Odom of Knoxville and Peyton Odom of Roan Mountain; his great grandchildren, Dillon Johnson, Abriella Jones and Brody Jones all of Roan Mountain, Brooklynn Sparks and Tanner Sparks both of Winston Salem, NC and Caleb Odom and Griffin Odom both of Knoxville; and his brothers, Lester Odom and Earl Odom both of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to celebrate and honor Wade's life will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 2, 2024 in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain with Reverend Randy English, Reverend Israel Hughes and Reverend Derrick Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends between the hours of 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the service on Saturday.
The graveside service will follow in the Ham Hughes Cemetery in Buladean, North Carolina. Active pallbearers will be Dillon Johnson, Brandon Odom, Peyton Odom, Luke Sparks, Buddy Sparks, Earl Odom, Lester Odom and Charles Odom. Honorary pallbearers will be Dewayne Holtsclaw, Donnie "Nub" Perkins, Justin Jones, Johnny Ledford and Cody Street.
