Mitchell Charles "Tad" Brown

Mitchell "Tad" Charles Brown, age 58, of Johnson City, Tennessee passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025 at the Bristol Regional Medical Center. Mitchell was born in Elizabethton to the late Fern and Lockie Merritt Brown. In addition to his parents, Mitchell was also preceded in death by many siblings.
Mitchell was a very spiritual man and attended Eternal Life Baptist Church. He was a construction worker and traveled a lot doing jobs. He loved telling stories and was a prankster. He loved pulling jokes on people. Mitchell was a musician, hang glider and an ultra light pilot, loved fishing, the outdoors, gardening, painting, loved his dogs and enjoyed going to the mountains. Mitchell loved his family dearly.
Mitchell was the owner and operator of MB Mowing Service. He was formerly employed with Weather Guard, Douglas Dynamics, Empire Furniture, Gordon's Furniture and Bristol Jeans.
Those left to cherish Mitchell's memory include his beloved companion and friend of 42 years, Shirley Miller of the home; his daughter, Cassie Brown of Nashville, TN; a sister, Linda Taylor of Roan Mountain; several nieces and nephews; the Miller family crew which he loved and bonded with, there were lots of love and pranks given, especially at parties and picnics and enjoyed taking the nieces and nephews on adventures; his special friends, Bob Potter, Fred Thomas and James "Doodle" Ricker all of Johnson City; his neighbors, Terry Smith family, Alain and Rachel; and his special family, JR Taylor and Craig Perkins both of Roan Mountain and many nieces and nephews that were special to him and that he loved very much.
A celebration of Mitchell's life will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the Tetrick Rhododendron Chapel of Roan Mountain with Pastor Richard Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service on Saturday.
The graveside service will follow in the Perry Cemetery on Shell Creek in Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
