Keith "Joe" Sluder, age 67, of Roan Mountain, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Joe was born in Roan Mountain on September 29, 1957 to the late Ronald and Marie Simerly Sluder. In addition to his parents, Joe was also preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Dody.
Joe was an accomplished photographer and of the Baptist faith. He loved taking photos for schools, proms and ball games. Joe was a member of Roan Mountain Masonic Lodge #566 and the Jericho Shrine Temple. Joe loved his family and enjoyed his moments with them, most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, Landry- the light of his life!Those left to cherish Joes legacy include his wife, Tiny Kelly Sluder; three beloved children, Misty Dawn Black (Barry Cothren) of North Carolina, Kelly Dustin Sluder (Shelbee) of Anchorage, Alaska, and Nicholas Keith Sluder (Amber) of Roan Mountain; four grandchildren, Harlee Black, Damian Black, Jimmy Joe Black, and Landry Paige Sluder; two great grandchildren, River Black and Clementine Reynoso; five brothers, Floyd "Bud" Odom, Johnny Odom, Kenneth "Buckeye" Sluder, Harold "Speedy" Sluder and J.D. "PeeWee" Burleson. Several nieces and nephews as well as his best friend, Steve "Roon" Boone also survive.
A service to celebrate and honor Joes life will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 16, 2025 in the Tetrick Rhododendron Chapel in Roan Mountain with Pastor Richard Stout officiating. A masonic service will follow. The family will receive friends between the hours of 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM on Sunday in the Rhododendron Chapel.
The graveside service will follow in the Johnson Roan View Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be C.Y. Peters, Charles Scheurer, Damian Black, Mike Powell, Steve "Roon" Boone and Floyd "Bud" Odom. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Joe Black and Joes brothers of Roan Mountain Masonic Lodge #566.Words of comfort may be shared with the family by visiting our website at www.tetrickfuneralhome.com.
