Wai Ling Yee

Wai Ling Yee, a devoted wife, mother, sister and beloved member of the Covington community, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 10, 2025, in Covington, Louisiana, at the age of 85.
Born on August 4, 1939, in Hong Kong, Wai Ling graduated high school in 1959 and began her career as a teacher. In 1960, she married the love of her life, Young G. Yee. Shortly after, she immigrated to the United States, settling in Lake Providence, Louisiana. There she worked diligently at the Y.T. Fook Grocery store while raising her family with grace and love. In 1985, the family moved to Covington, where Wai Ling began a new chapter working at Lai Yuen Restaurant until her retirement.
Wai Ling is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Young G. Yee; her sons, Michael Yee (his wife Rebecca and their children-Jonathan Yee, Leslie Cristobal, David Yee and Kay Yee) and Edward Yee; and her her siblings, Wendy Fong, Raycent Chu and Agnes Sit.
She was preceded in death by her parents Wang Kit Chu and Pui Wah Chu; and her brother, Pak Woon Chu.
Wai Ling will be remembered for her strong work ethic, her kindness, and the unwavering love she had for her family and community.
Wai Ling's memory will live on through those she touched with her quiet strength and enduring love.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services for Mrs. Yee. There will be a wake at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington LA 70433 on Saturday, May 17th, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with visitation at the Pentecostals on Lee Road, 17700 LA 40, Covington, LA 70435 on Monday beginning at 9:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in The Pentecostals on Lee Road Cemetery.
