Waine Haley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Partlow Funeral Chapel - Lebanon on Dec. 9, 2025.
Waine David Haley - age 56 of Lebanon, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was preceded in death by mother, Linda Diane Keeper Haley.

Waine is survived by wife of 10 years, Lori Norton Haley; son, William David Haley; father, William Dan (Sue Ellen) Haley; brother, Dwight (Danniele) Haley; sister, Tammie (Philip) Wilson; uncle, Jerry (Irene) Keeper; like a son to Waine, Christopher Downey; close friend, Brandon Grater; and his beloved rescue dog, Ruger Zuma Haley; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family and friends.

Waine Haley, beloved father, veteran, and friend passed from this life with the same quiet strength and steady spirit that defined him. After receiving a double-lung transplant in August of 2024, Waine embraced a second gift of life with courage and gratitude. That remarkable journey didn't just restore his breath - it strengthened his spirit. He drew deep strength from the challenges he overcame.

A man of deep faith, Waine accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at just 11 years old, a commitment that guided his character and decisions throughout his life.

Waine proudly served his country for 12 years in the United States Army, serving two tours of active duty and achieving the rank of Sergeant. His service carried him across the world to Iraq, Iran, Germany, Qatar, and Ireland. He was fiercely patriotic, deeply loyal, and known affectionately by many of his military brothers as "Papa Bear"-a name earned through his protective nature, big heart, and calm leadership. He also served as a combat journalist and Cavalry Scout.

A true outdoorsman and gun enthusiast, Waine found peace in nature and joy in adventure. Some of his best memories were made fishing, hiking, camping, and white-water rafting-especially cherished were the moments spent sharing these activities with his wife and son. Whether repairing his Ford truck in the driveway or trekking through the woods together, Waine valued time with those he loved most.

At home, Waine had a creative spark as an extraordinary chef, he could take the simplest ingredients and turn them into something unforgettable. He also had a signature style all his own-comfortable in his overalls and confident in who he was, never once apologizing for it.

Thoughtful to his core, Waine was known for giving gifts with special meaning. He had a way of choosing just the right thing-something that made his family and friends feel seen, understood, and appreciated.

Waine leaves behind a legacy of service, faith, and devotion to family. He lived a life marked by generosity, courage, and a gentle steadiness that will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who loved him.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at Partlow Funeral Chapel from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. with a Celebration of Life service with military honors to follow at 3 p.m. Bro. Mike Wamble will officiate the services.
