Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sinai Mortuary of AZ on Jul. 6, 2024.
Wallace William Kravitz was born on November 24, 1922 to his parents Albert and Goldie Kravitz. He grew up in Springfield, Massachusetts with his older siblings, Anita and George.
He was educated at Classical High School in Springfield and then went on to college at American International College in Springfield getting his Bachelors Degree. He then went on to Syracuse University to get his Masters in Teaching.
Wally as he was now known was drafted into the Army and went overseas to fight in WWII. As his personal correspondence to his parent shows, he fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He.helped in turning the tide for the United States and their battle to win the war.
When he came back his first teaching job was at Cortland, NY. These were as he said some of his happiest and carefree moments as a teacher. He made some friends that including one who is still alive today that he continued to keep in contact with up until this year.
He met his future wife Mollie from the Bronx, NY when he was set up on a blind date. After commuting back in forth, for a few months, they decided to get married. They moved down to Long Island where Wally began his teaching career.
Their daughter Paula was born shortly after followed by their son a few years later, Ken. They moved to Syosset, Long Island where he worked in there as a teacher until 1973. He then moved on to become the Chairman of the business math department at Mineola High School where he worked until retirement.
He was very close with his extended family and enjoyed the visits that they made up to Massachusetts and down to Georgia and Florida. Everywhere they went, he took his dog and buddy with him. He loved that dog!
Wally was author of several Business Education Books that he was very proud of. Back before computers, he typed all of his manuscripts on his manual and then electric typewriter down in his basement office.
He and Mollie moved out to Arizona in 2002 to be closer to Ken and Karen. They lived at the Manors of Scottsdale where Wally shortly became one of the most popular residents participating in events and on the board. He is beloved by many of the people he met during the course of his life at the Manors, now known as the Ranch Estates of Scottsdale.
Wally was pre-deceased by his daughter Paula Dambroff and his daughter-in-law Karen Kravitz. He is now survived by his Son Ken Kravitz, his grandchildren, Aliza and Chad Cooper, Jordan and Andy Godwin, Daniel and Emily Dambroff, Rebecca Dambroff and his great grandchildren, Kate and Ari Cooper.
Wally was one of the last 100,000 or so remaining participants of what we now call the Greatest Generation.
