Walter Bafia Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Santa Cruz Memorial Funeral Home - Mission Chapel on Jul. 1, 2025.
Walter R. Bafia, 72, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2025. Born in Bialka Tatrzanska, Poland, Walter immigrated with his family to Chicago in 1961, beginning a remarkable journey defined by hard work, love, and dedication. He never forgot his ties to his beloved Chicago.
Walter began his career in the moving, storage, and packing industry while earning his architectural engineering degree. His ambition to co-own a business led him to California, where he met Carolyn, the love of his life. His career spanned decades and took him across the country, from California to Illinois, Arkansas, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and back to California in the 1990s, where he settled in Scotts Valley. As a manager and business owner known for his strong work ethic and kind spirit, Walter built a life filled with meaningful connections and lasting memories.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Maria (Korkosz), his brother, Stanley, Stanley's wife, Dorothy (Heklowski), his beloved son James and his cherished grandson, Jacob. He leaves behind his devoted and loving wife of 45 years, Carolyn A. (Jones), his brother Joseph (Vince Czarnowski), his daughter-in-law, Ania (Szorc), and his treasured grandchildren, Emily, Joey, and Olivia. Walter is also survived by numerous relatives and friends who will always cherish his warmth and generosity.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the American Diabetes Association in Walter's honor, reflecting his commitment to supporting others.
