Walter Ulysses Blankley

Walter Ulysses Blankley, Jr., 89, of Emporia, Kansas, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Flint Hills Care Center in Emporia.
He was born September 9, 1934, at Rock, Kansas, the son of Walter Ulysses Blankley, Sr. and Opal Marie (Hamilton) Blankley. He grew up on a farm east of Hartford, Kansas.
On June 17, 1955, he and Alice Pearl Truelove were married at Emporia. They farmed together for 65 years.
Walter was a member of the Flint Hills Antique Power Association.
Alice, his wife of more than 68 years, preceded him in death on July 29, 2023. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a son, Duane Blankley; a granddaughter, Lori Marie; a great-granddaughter, Helen Pearl; a daughter-in-law, Kathy; a brother, George Blankley and sister-in-law Doris; a sister, Irene Mishler; and a brother-in-law, Lowell Bath.
Walter is survived by two sons, Gerald Blankley and Richard Blankley and wife Angela, both of Emporia; a sister, Joann Bath of Florida; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Bethel Baptist Church in Emporia. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery at Emporia.
The family will meet with friends from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M. Monday at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.
