Mr. Walter Wayne Bray was born on October 27, 1949, to Louise and David Bray in Palo Alto, California. He moved to Louisiana and attended and graduated from Verda High School. He worked for Tremont Plywood company for five years. He then worked as a roofer for five years. Then he went to work at Bobby Smith's (Bear Manufacturing), as a welder, where he worked for fifty years.

Walter loved to hunt and fish, was a mechanic and kept up repairs around his home. He liked to garden and once grew a ninety-five-pound pumpkin. He loved playing cards and other games with his family.

He was married to Sandra Lunsford Bray for fifty-two years. They had three children: David Bray of Montgomery, LA, Michael Bray (Mandy) of Dry Prong, LA, and Laura Lowery (Will) of Montgomery, LA. He has six grandchildren: Ryah Bray, Nicholas Keeney, Payton Keeney, Lorli Bray, Ella Bray and Alexzandar Lowery. He loved spending time with them and showing them how things worked or how things should be done.

He is also survived by his sister, Irene Lunsford of Montgomery, LA. Two brothers, Thomas Bray (Wanda) of Harvey, LA and Robert Bray of Elm Grove, LA. He has quite a few nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Charles Lunsford and sister-in-law Frances Fredericks.

Walter passed away on February 12, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 16, 2026 in the Hargis Baptist Church with Reverends Skip Lavespere, Frank Peacock and Doug James officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Friends may visit with the family in the church on Monday from 11:00 AM until time of services.

Serving as pallbearers will be Nicholas Keeney, Jalan Lawson, Stan Jackson, Tapper Corbitt, Robin Bray and Timmy Bishop. Honorary pallbearers, Jon Smith and Mel Shaw.
