Walter Brodock Obituary
Hastings
Walter Allen Brodock, age 98 of Hastings, passed away on April 11, 2023. Walter was born on August 6, 1924 in Grand Rapids, the son of Harley and Edna (Spencer) Schoonmacher. Walter proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. On August 13, 1949 he married the love of his life, Esther (Dittman) Brodock and she preceded him in death on March 31, 1997. He worked for Bradford Whites for over 32 years. Walter was a member of the Moose Lodge and Middleville Bowling League. In his free time, Walter enjoyed scrapping metal, hunting, fishing, cutting wood, going on hay rides, and enjoying the occasional refreshment or two. Most of all, he loved his family. Walter is survived by his children: Rita (Ron) Hess, Karen Wiersema (John), Troy (Sue Montague) Brodock; daughter in law, Terri Brodock; 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Walter was preceded in death by his parents; wife Esther Brodock; sons: Walter Brodock Jr., Edward Brodock, Eugene Brodock; son in law, Bill Wiersema; and several siblings. Walter's family will receive friends on Saturday, April 15, 2023, 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the Beeler-Gores Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 PM at Irving Cemetery.
