Walter (Walt) Clemons, loving husband, father, grandfather, & friend passed peacefully on October 6th, 2023 surrounded by family and went to be with the Lord. He was born in Gooding, Idaho on March 30, 1935. An only child, Walt grew up on a 500 acre working farm knowing the value of hard work but was also a bit mischievous. His favorite story to tell of his childhood is when he and his cousin took a tractor with a manure spreader and went down the center of town spreading manure everywhere. It was everywhere including store fronts and vehicles. Of course his parents already knew who had done it and he and his cousin spent months cleaning it all up. He attended the University of Idaho where he was in the SAE Fraternity, earned his Business degree in Finance. After college he spent 2 years in active duty in the Air Force and served 8 more years in the Air Force Reserves.
In 1978, he married Betty, the love of his life and lived in Kent, Washington for the next 40+ years. Walt loved golfing, shooting, fishing, and traveling. Walt loved spending time with the grandkids and attended as many of their games & events as possible. He was a great supporter of his kids and grandkids and always happy to provide advise (sometimes unsolicited). He encouraged them to strive to do their best in life. His most recent passion was after being diagnosed with Parkinsons, in 2017 he was encouraged to join Rock Steady Boxing which is specifically for those with Parkinsons to help keep them fit. He loved the boxing and Rock Steady community and was asked to be a board member for the organization Boxers with Parkinsons. He was a member of Faith Church and was active serving on the financial committee for many years. He also enjoyed Men's Breakfast and Retreats which brought him closer to the Lord. He had a successful career as a financial planner where he enjoyed helping people.
He was preceded in death by his parents Blythe and Hope Clemons, his daughter Carrie and her husband, Brantley Bates, and his step son Daniel Wake. He is survived by his wife Betty, his son's Scott (Misty) Clemons, Rob (Leslie) Clemons, and his step daughter LaDonna (James) Kunkle, 4 grandchildren; Katy (Brian) Epright, Taylor Kunkle, Jessica (Jasper) Clemons and Brendan Byers, and Ryan Clemons.
Walt's Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 18th, 2023 at 1:00pm at Faith Church, 25636 140th Ave SE in Kent, Washington.
