Walter Davis was born Nov. 21, 1939 in Jackson County, TN and he passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at his residence in Gainesboro at the age of 82.
He was the son of Nicholas and Bessie Long Davis. Mr. Walter was a retired farmer, former employee at AVCO, a business owner and former EMT with the Jackson County Ambulance Service. He was married to Fran Bennett Davis on Oct. 16, 1996 for a total of 25 years of marriage. He was a member of the Gainesboro Church of Christ.
Mr. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Clyde Davis, Robert Davis, William Stanton Davis and Ottis Davis, son-in-laws, Lanny Kirby and Larmon Loftis.
Survivors include his wife, Fran Davis of Gainesboro; son, Kenny Davis of Gainesboro; daughters, Kay Kirby, Sharon Davis, Chasity (Tony) Hix all of Gainesboro; sister, Jewel Spivey of Whitleyville; grandchildren, Dustin (Valerie) Loftis, Heath (Krista) Kirby, Torrey Kirby, Ethan (Olivia) Kirby, Blaise (Abbye) Barlow, and Kinsey (Nicholas) Lemmons; great grandchildren, Ayden Loftis, Carolina Barlow, Lena Barlow, Jude Barlow, Amara Kirby, Ellee Kirby and Baby Kirby that is due in April. A host of nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.
Visitation will be on Saturday, March 19, 2022 4-8 pm and again on Sunday from 11 am to 2 pm at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Sunday at 2 PM in the Chapel of the funeral home with Bro. Ray Notgrass officiating. Burial will follow in John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital, Fox Chaffin Cemetery or Pharris Cemetery by contacting the funeral home.
Honorary pallbearers will be the card players at the feed store.
