Walter Davis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cavanagh Family Funeral Homes, Inc. & Private Crematory - Norwood on Feb. 25, 2026.
Walter M. Davis Jr., lovingly known as "Mickey," passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026, at the age of 77. A lifelong resident of Tinicum Township, Mickey dedicated 35 years of his life to serving his community as a proud and committed police officer.

Mickey was the beloved husband of 53 years to his devoted wife, Agnes. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and unwavering support. He was a proud and loving father to his daughter, Kristy (Jim), and his son, Kevin (Stefanie). His greatest joy in life was being "Pops" to his seven cherished grandchildren: Kaci, Jimmy, Karlee, Thomas, Bennett, Elliott, and Mia.

He is also survived by his sister, Dolly Atherley.

Mickey was preceded in death by his father, Officer Walter M. Davis Sr., and his mother, Dolores Davis (Flynn), whose legacy of strength and service he carried throughout his life.

In his younger years, Mickey was an avid bowler who enjoyed both the competition and camaraderie of the sport. He also treasured going to Sunday breakfast with his oldest and dearest friends, a tradition filled with laughter and lifelong bonds. As the years went on, nothing made him happier than spending his summers by the pool, surrounded by his grandchildren, relaxing with his favorite beverages and soaking in the laughter of family.

Mickey was known for his warmth and unmistakable greetings - whether it was "Hey hun" or "Hello darlin'," he made everyone feel welcome. He never let his grandchildren leave without saying, "Love you to pieces," words that will forever echo in their hearts.

Mickey will be remembered for his dedication to his community, his deep love for his family, and the kindness and familiarity he shared so freely with all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the lives he protected, the family he cherished, and the countless memories made poolside, at home, and in the hearts of those who loved him.

Family and friends are invited to attended Mickey's viewings on Thursday February 26th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Friday February 27th at 9:00 to 10:00am at Cavanagh Funeral home in Norwood, 301 Chester Pike. A funeral mass will be held at Saint Gabrial's Church on Mohawk Avenue in Norwood Friday February 27th at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Saints Peter and Paul cemetery in Springfield.
