Walter B. Dean, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on August 3, 1941, in
Graham, North Carolina, Walter lived a life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a love for the simple joys of life.
A proud veteran, Walter served his country with honor in the United States Army. Following his military service, he worked diligently in the textile industry, contributing to the community he cherished in
Graham, North Carolina. Walter found immense joy in raising his children in the same town where he was born, instilling in them the values of hard work, integrity, and love.
Walter's heart was happiest when he was surrounded by his family. He cherished every moment spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and his legacy lives on in their hearts. A devoted husband, he shared a deep bond with his late wife, Marjorie Dean, with whom he enjoyed countless days at the beach, basking in the sun and creating lasting memories.
In his leisure time, Walter could often be found outdoors, tending to his garden and landscaping, activities that brought him peace and fulfillment. His gentle spirit and warm smile will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Walter is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marjorie Dean; his parents, Russell and Alice Dean; and his brother, Larry Dean.
He is survived by his loving children: son Kenneth Dean and his wife Lana, daughter Diane Toney, son Richard Dean, and son Mike Dean and his wife Stephanie. Walter's legacy continues through his eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life.
Walter will be remembered as a man of quiet strength and unwavering love for his family. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
There will be no services at this time. The family would like to thank the caring staff at the VA Hospital and DaVita for their compassion, dedication, and loving care.
