Walter Anson Estep, Jr. passed away peacefully, on Tuesday September 17, 2024, at home surrounded by family, in Centerview, Missouri. He was 89 years old. Born on Oct. 16, 1934, in Bethesda, MD, the son of the late Walter Anson Estep Sr. and Elda Evelyn (Trieber) Estep. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and retired from the Kansas City Police Department.
He is survived by his children Christine Reever (Maynard), Sahra Henselman, Jerry Stockdall (Crissy) Tom Stockdall (Roxanne), numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and his beloved dog Daisy. He loved dogs and other animals.
A cherished memory from his grandchildren is when Grandpa Walt had a pet guinea pig. He and the kids would take the guinea pig out to play under the grapevine. They would laugh, play as he shared stories and snacked on grapes straight from the vine. He enjoyed sharing treats with them like Good & Plenty and York Peppermint Patties.
Walter was preceded in death by his sons Charles William Estep, Terry Henselman, brothers Richard Neal Estep, Steuart Dickerson Estep (Charlotte), sisters Loretta Rae Wolfe, and Evelyn Barbara Falkman.
A funeral visitation will be held on Monday, September 23, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Following the visitation, a graveside service will take place at 12:30 PM, at La Monte Cemetery in La Monte, Missouri. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved partner of many years, Judy Mae Howe.
Walter's family and friends will forever cherish his memory and honor the legacy he leaves behind.
