Walter Gers Obituary
Walt was a U.S. Air Force MSGT who served 20 years active duty where he saw tours in both Korea and Vietnam, 10 years reserve duty. He continued to serve our military as a civilian until his retirement in 1990. Walt was a member of Elks Lodge #836 for 35 years.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mary; his brother, Irvin Clayton Gers of Mechanicsburg; sons, Terence (Marilyn) of Yucaipa, Irvin (Helen), Roger (Teresa), Keith (Kari); his daughter, Sandra; grandchildren, Dorothy, Tracey, Lindsey, Katie, Misty, Jennifer, Sal, Phillip, Mallory and John; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild, plus many nieces and nephews.
Walt is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, William Ralph Gers; and infant daughter, Diane Elizabeth Gers.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025 from 4-7 p.m. Chapel service will be held on Jan. 31, 2025 at 11 a.m. Both services will be held at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E Highland Avenue, San Bernardino, CA 92404.
Burial services will follow at 1:15 p.m. with military honors at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92518.

Walter was a beloved friend of our family. It was always fun to have him stop in to visit. He was a great guy to ride around with my brother, Chuck, sometimes both of them cutting classes together from Osceola High School. He was always so very kind and respectful of our parents. A true and dedicated gentleman who served The United States of America military with pride and honor.
