Walter Elmer Gutermuth, 91, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri. Born on November 26, 1933, in Cottleville, Missouri, Walter was a dedicated and hardworking owner of several salvage yards located in Cottleville, Warrenton, and Bourbon, Missouri.

Walter is survived by his beloved wife, Mona Lisa (nee Helms) Gutermuth and two daughters, Gloria (Peter) Hoch and LaDawn (Gregory) Dewey. He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Nora Gutermuth, wife Lucille Dorothy (née Johnson), wife Peggy Joyce (nee Fliehman), son Steven Walter (Kim), daughter Donna Lynn, grandson Alexander Jay, and granddaughter, Lauren Caroline Reinhardt. He was the proud grandfather of Kaila Reinhardt, Andrianna Brennan, Taylor Gutermuth, Chandler (Carleigh) Gutermuth, Paul Hoch, Maxwell (Amy) Hoch, Daniel (Kurstin) Reinhardt, and great grandfather to Damien Brand, Kingston Hoch, Mya Brennan and Berkley Hoch.

Nothing pleased Walter more than being in his salvage yard and making car deals with his customers. Although grumpy at times, he was loving and caring and would help those who desperately needed a spare part. His life was marked by perseverance and commitment to his work and family.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Memorials may be made in Walter's name to St. Jude’s's Children's Research Hospital and Shriners Hospital.
