Walter Lee "Cobbie" Harrison, 78 of Louisville, Ky was born July 23rd, 1947, to Mary Ruth and Walter "Dub" Harrison. Cobbie graduated from Louisville Male High School in 1965 where he excelled in athletics and signed a baseball contract with the Minnesota Twins where he played for two years before being drafted by the Army. Cobbie returned to Louisville and started a family. Cobbie would remain in Louisville for the rest of his life, and he would pursue competitive sports playing softball at an elite level. The sport of softball was exploding, and Cobbie was setting records when professional softball was established. Cobbie was one of the first to sign with the Kentucky Bourbons. He had an amazing career before he would later transition to the role of player/manager. The spirit of coaching caught fire in Cobbie. He completed with the best and made sure that his players became their best. Cobbie had a gift for teaching and developing the game of softball. Cobbie was very proud of his four children and loved spending time with his family. Cobbie loved U of L athletics and was an avid horse racing fan. Cobbie loved life and will be dearly missed by his family and treasured friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Dub and Mary Ruth Harrison; and grandparents, Haddie and Alfus Harrison and Bessie Cheek Adams. He is survived by his children: C.W. Harrison (Phyllis), Brent Harrison (Vickie), Michaele Roy (Troy), and Lisa Rogers (Paul); sister, Cindy Greene (Duke); grandchildren, Aaron, Drew (Ariana), Luke, Caitlin, Jacob, Cara and Bella; five great grandchildren; nephew, Ross Mannel; niece, Ashley Cronen (Giles) and numerous cousins in both Kentucky and Virginia. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to his dedicated team of care providers at Campbell House, Sam Swope Care Center and the administrative staff, especially Sheila Hammond. In addition, they would also like to thank Hosparus of Louisville. His visitation and funeral will be held at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy., on Friday, September 26, 2025. Visitation will be from 2:00-7:00 PM and the service will start at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Specials Olympics of Kentucky (SOKY) or Kentucky Horseman's Benevolent Protective Association (HBPA).
