Walter Hassey Obituary

Walter lived for his grandchildren and could often be found telling them stories and giving them math problems. He was also an avid gardener and loved to share his vegetables, pumpkins and flowers with his friends and family. Walter was a passionate Boston sports fan and enjoyed grilling. He served in the US Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
Friends and family will gather on Friday, June 7 in the Magni Funeral Home, 365 Watertown St, Newton from 11am to 1pm for a 2-hour visitation. At 1pm, a short service will be held in the funeral home including a special song and words of remembrance. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Newton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA 02215.
