Walter Joseph "Sonny" Held Jr.

Walter J. "Sonny" Held Jr., 83, of Neosho, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 16, 2024. He was born on April 9,1940, to Walter and Louise (nee Kreuser) Held. On August 27, 1960, he married Joanne Zingsheim of Saint Anthony.
Sonny was a lifelong resident of Neosho. He worked for John Deere in Horicon for 35 years. Sonny loved riding snowmobiles when he was younger, throwing horseshoes, playing sheepshead (card game) and was a great friend to all. He was very witty and always looking for a good time. Sonny volunteered his entire life for the Neosho Fire Department where he was the Chief for a number of years.
Sonny is survived by his 4 sons: Tim (Katie) of Waukesha; Tom (Judy) of Neosho; Terry (Melinda) of Hartford; and Dan (Lynn) of Bloomington, IN; his 8 grandchildren Matt, Miah, Kyle, Jennifer, Brian, Ashtyn, Tea, and Boston; his great-grandchildren Kaylee, Elijah, and Parker; his brothers Kenny and Jerry and his sisters Donna, Sharon and Arlene.
Sonny was preceded in death by Joanne, his wife of 60 years; his parents Walter and Louise Held; his brother Joe and his sisters Joanne, Mary, Shirley and Carol.
Funeral Service for Sonny will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024,at 1:00 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union Street, Hartford, Wisconsin 53027. Family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m.-12:45 p.m.
Immediately following services, committal in St. Bartholomew Cemetery, Neosho, WI.
