Walter Helein

Walter Helein, age 93, a resident of Eagle River, Wisconsin, passed away on June 13, 2023. He was born on November 12, 1929, in Black Creek, Wisconsin, to John and Elsie Helein. Walter worked for Wisconsin Motors for 30 years.
Walter and Evelyn were married for almost 60 years. They retired to their home on Paradise Lake in 1984. Walter and Evelyn spent the next 30 years traveling around the world. They spent the winters in California with their daughter, son-in-law and granddaughters.
Walter was very active during his retirement with the Saint Germain Lions Club. He spent many happy hours volunteering with the Lions Club for their various activities. In 2004, he was Lion of the Year. In 2007, he was honored with the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. Walter was also a lifelong, avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed sharing this love with others.
Walter is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, his parents, John and Elsie, his brother, Donald and sister, Marion. He is survived by his daughter, Kristine, (Larry) Rowe, granddaughters, Erin (Michael), Braswell, and Madison Rowe. Also survived by many close nieces, nephews and other family. Walter had many friends, especially with the Saint Germain Lions and Milestone Senior Living in Eagle River where he had resided for the last two years. A special thanks to Compassus Hospice for the excellent care he received.
