Walter Fred Henry, age 76, of Selma, NC, passed away at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield, NC on September 13, 2025. Known as Fred to his family and friends, he was born on April 12, 1949, in Angier, NC, to the late Walter Roosevelt Henry and Ada Williams Henry, and was the sixth of nine siblings.

Walter Fred received his education through the Johnston County School System. In his youth, he gained extensive agricultural experience while working on local farms, including his father's farm. Throughout his career, he held supervisory roles at KR Edwards, Guy C. Lee, and Burlington Mills in Smithfield, NC. He earned respect for his expertise as both a skilled craftsman and a licensed welder, consistently demonstrating exceptional proficiency in his trade.

Walter Fred met the love of his life, Carolyn Ann Jones Henry early in life, and they were joined in marriage on November 3, 1972. Together, their union was blessed with five children.

Mr. Henry was predeceased by his son, Rodney Henry; his parents, Walter Roosevelt Henry and Ada Williams Henry; six sisters: Hazel Henry Robinson, Vernell Henry Williams, Earlene Henry Williams, Lillie Mae Henry Richardson, Dorothy Henry Sanders, Matt Lee Henry; and one brother, Walter Henry Jr.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Carolyn Jones Henry; three sons: Walter Roosevelt Henry (Kenly, NC), Dexter Henry (Selma, NC), and Fredrick Henry (Princeton, NC); one bonus daughter, Veronica Jones (Clayton, NC); one sister, Mary Henry Nwoke (Four Oaks, NC); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Hazel Jones; two brothers-in-law: Donnie Jones and Raymond Sanders; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. He also leaves behind a special friend, "Buster."
