I was an army friend of Walt. We went to Military Intelligence School in Ft Holabird Baltimore Md together. Then we roomed together in Vietnamese language for 47 weeks in 1967-1968 at Ft Bliss El Paso Tx. After Vietnam we meet together a few times in the 1970s as I lived near Washington DC and he near Philadelphia. I was about to call him many times, sorry I didn’t. Walt was a great guy. He was always ready for a good time and an interesting conversation. He lived to do what was right and get fullness out of life. All the guys we were with in the army liked and appreciated him. My condolences to his family.

Fondly Remembering him

Walt was a kind, generous, gracious man. He was always there with a listening ear and a great sense of humor. He loved his beautiful family so much and it was obvious in all that he did. I am holding his lovely family in my prayers.

I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Walt during his time as a partner at Sernat Roofing and their involvement with the Roofing Contractors Association. Walt was always willing to give of his time and talent in order to advance the best interests of union roofing contractors in the Philadelphia area. Men of his kind are few and far between. The RCA extends its prayers and deepest sympathy to his wife and family.

Walter Hnat was one of the finest men I've had the pleasure of working with. To say how far we go back to Sernat, just the greatest guy that I have been looking for since December 2. I've called everyone I could think of, and someone said he moved to AC. Dear Lord hold this dear man tight to your chest as he is the epitome of your Grace. Francesca please call me at 6093352336. I'm getting vaccinated shortly and I just need a hug. He always called me Terri Teresa!!! I remember when he called about working together and he said it was your idea. I was trying to get in touch with him to see about working together again!! I'm living in Baltimore since the 1st. Oh I should have looked harder. God I'm going to miss that man. I called him but his number was out of service. So young and full of life. Please let me know where your living as I'm coming home this week. Oh my!
