Walter "Clyde" Hobbs, age 91 of Hood RIver passed away on August 13, 2024 in McMinnville, OR at Brookdale Senior Living Center after complications arising from contracting COVID.
Clyde was born in Powhattan, Kansas on February 9, 1933 to Warren Crawford Hobbs and Grovia Ann Hobbs (Moore). He moved to Southern California after high school where he met his wife, Geraldine "Jeri" Bergerson. They were married on December 24, 1952 and lived in California until 1965 when they moved to Oregon. They bought property on the west side of Hood River and lived there for over 50 years. Clyde worked in construction, having had a part in several projects around the Hood River area. He built the homes that the family lived in and helped his children with their home remodeling jobs on many occasions. He was always willing to lend a hand where he could and used his talent and knowledge to benefit his family, church and friends. Clyde and Jeri had a peach orchard on their property in Hood River and they were always generous with their bounty.
Clyde and Jeri loved to be on the open road with their RV and traveled all over our great country making life long close friends.
Clyde is survived by his youngest sister, Ann Corley of Gladstone, MS and his four children and ten grandchildren. Children are Susan Walpole, Richard Hobbs, Carol Cortez and DeAnna Lundsten.
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 1:30 pm at Idlewilde Cemetery in Hood River, OR. For those who would like to say their final goodbyes, an open casket viewing will be at Anderson's Tribute Center at 1401 Belmont Ave, Hood River, OR from 11:00 am -1:00pm. There will be no formal gathering after the graveside service as Clyde's desire was to have it simple. Having lost his wife six years prior, he visited her gravesite every couple of weeks during those years and he was looking forward to the day he would be with her again.
