WALTER "PAT" KANT Obituary
Funeral services for Walter Patrick "Pat" Kant, 81, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 15, 2024 at the Gorman Funeral Homes – Converse Chapel in Douglas, Wyoming with Dick Taylor officiating and Stan Goodwin as the eulogist. Interment will be in the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Pat Kant died Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Hemingford Community Care Center in Hemingford, Nebraska.
Pat was born Friday, July 31, 1942 in Rock Springs, Wyoming the son of Walter Fredrick and Bertha Susan (Borner) Kant. Pat moved with his family when he was about four years of age to Lance Creek, Wyoming where he was raised and educated. He worked with his father and later owned and operated Pat's Conoco in Lance Creek and also did some welding jobs on the side. He was married to Frances Heckman and to this union two sons were born. He later was married to Ruby Louise (Parker) Goodwin Layman on January 20, 1999 in Douglas. Pat enjoyed remodeling old cars, dancing, and spending time at the Senior Citizens Center.
He is survived by his two sons, Bradley P. Kant of Lance Creek and Walter F. Kant of Lusk, Wyoming; brother, Michael Forest Kant Sr. of Douglas; grandchildren, Coral Ellsworth, Danielle Kant, and Alexander Kant; and great grandchildren, Lilly Rae, Liam Rae, Lane Rae, and Camden Kant.
Pat was preceded in death by his father, Walter, on October 5, 2001; mother, Bertha, on September 30, 2008; wife, Ruby, on November 19, 2019; and siblings, Jerrie Lynn Kant Cassinat on June 14, 1995 and Charles William Kant on February 10, 20216.
Serving as pallbearers will be Donny Ellsworth, Leroy Krejci, Roger Brewer, Alexander Kant, Steve Kant, and Don Savage.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to The Gathering Food Pantry, P.O. Box 1446, Douglas, Wyoming 82633 would be appreciated by the family.
