Walter (Sonny) Kotarek passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025. He was born September 22, 1936 to the late Walter and Katherine Kotarek. He was a graduate of Two Rivers High School. Walter married Shirley Schwartz on July 27, 1957 in Walsh, Wisconsin. He spent most of his life in Two Rivers, moving to Ashwaubenon in 2005.
Walter was a die hard Cub, Packer and Badger fan. He took great pride in watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in their many sports, dance recitals, and concerts. His favorite past times were golf, fishing, and puzzles.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley, of 67 years; his children: Bruce (Melissa) Kotarek, Karen (Bruce) Key, Mark (Lisa) Kotarek, and Kelly (Chris) Medenwaldt; nine grandchildren: Jessica (Jeremiah) Merchak, Brad (Amanda) Kotarek, Megan (Ben) Herdrich, Justin (Sarah) Key, Samantha (Jason Revels) Key, Griffin (Sara Harris) Kotarek, Lucas Kotarek, Kajen Medenwaldt and Jersey Medenwaldt; and 11 great grandchildren.
Walter was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Ashley Kotarek and infant great-grandson, Caleb Kotarek; his sister, Elaine Schwake; and a brother in law, Charles Schwake.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, April 12th from 9:00 am - 11:00 am at Nativity of Our Lord Parish (2270 S Oneida St, Green Bay, WI 54304). A Memorial Service will follow immediately after at 11:00 am.
