A lover of words, Walt (Or Murph as he preferred to be called), was born in Newark, NJ, grew up in Bloomfield, NJ, but made southern New Jersey his home. Not sure what to say?

Walt was a good friend and mentor, who helped me get my writing career off the ground, starting with a little paper in Linwood back in late '80s-early '90s. Our group had a lot of fun in our news meetings. We kept in touch throughout the years, and he always had a joke or pun to share. Like my Irish-American dad, he loved to talk! but Walt always had something interesting to say. My sympathies to Anita, Sharon and Tom. Your dad was one of a kind.

Uncle Walter is with his beautiful wife Rose in heaven. I have so many wonderful memories with my Uncle Walter and Aunt Rose and my cousins Anita, Sharon and Tom especially going "down the shore " to visit them. I remember Uncle Walter bringing us to the radio station WOND one of many great experiences Uncle Walter shared with us. I really remember the great, funny times Uncle Walter and my Dad, Vincent Sargese had together where they would laugh at themselves or funny jokes. They laughed so hard they would loose their breath. Uncle Walter say hi to my Mom and Dad and please give Aunt Rose a great big hug and kiss for me. Thank you for being a big part of my life.

So sorry to learn of Walt´s passing.
I first met him when I was a teenager in the `60s when he was selling advertising on WOND and would stop in the Cardinal Tie Shop on the Boardwalk where I worked in the summer to speak to my boss, Walter Bryz-Gornia about advertising. Over the years our paths crossed many times. He was always good-natured and a gentleman. Condolences to Walt´s family.

My sincerest condolences to Walt's family. Early in my radio days, Walt would call me at the station to just chat and encourage me to keep working toward my dreams. My dreams turned to a career in law enforcement, but I never forgot his kindnesses; not to this day. God bless him and keep him.

In the early 1970's I sent a note to WOND about wanting to do an oldies music show. Walt answered with "we can't use that, but how'd you like to sell advertising?" I accepted, and eventually took over his job as sales manager when he went on to the AC Chamber of Commerce. That position helped me add on-air work there and at other stations, then on to related PR and marketing jobs. So, it was Walt who was responsible for, really, my whole career in fields I loved, and I'd bet that through the years he helped many others like that, not to mention gifting everyone with his humor.
