He worked for Southern Bell - AT&T for 55 years, until he retired.
Walter was predeceased by his parents; Lillian Rich and Walter Nelson, Sr., and is survived by his wife; Norma, son; Mark Nelson, Sr., daughter; Lisa (Wes) Thompson, grandchildren; Nicole Nelson, Mark Nelson, Jr., Chase Thompson and Hunter Thompson.
Memorial Services will be held 11 AM, Friday, March 8th, 2024 at HARDAGE-GIDDENS RIVERMEAD FUNERAL HOME, 127 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park, FL. Please post words of comfort at www.hardage-giddensrivermead.com.

I enjoyed working with Walter before he retired... and then when he came back to work after retirement! I always said I hope that I can be as healthy, look as good, and live as long as Walter! My coworkers and I looked up to Walter.

Walter was a long time of our Retired Telecommunications Breakfast group and will be missed. He used to attend between his two retirements on regular basis and most of old westsiders and northsiders knew or worked with him. I know he is missed by many and may he rest in peace.
