Donald Nelson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home on Feb. 12, 2026.
With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we share the passing of Donald Mark Nelson, Jr.-known to all as "DJ." Born on February 9, 1994, DJ's unexpected departure leaves an emptiness in our lives that words cannot express. His vibrant spirit, infectious laughter, and the countless moments we shared will remain with us forever.

DJ served his country with pride as a member of the United States National Guard. He embodied duty, strength, and unwavering commitment, not just in uniform but in every facet of his life. As a devoted father, DJ's love for his children was limitless- he was their hero, protector, and biggest supporter.

Anyone who knew DJ quickly learned about his passion for sports. Game days were sacred and his enthusiasm was contagious. Whether arguing stats in a friendly rivalry, orchestrating lively debates, or cheering his favorite teams with family and friends, DJ brought everyone together. For him, sports were more than wins and losses- - they were the heartbeat of gatherings, celebrations, and lasting connections.

DJ's legacy lives on through those who loved him most. He is survived by his loving parents, Donald Nelson of Raynham and Susan Merenda and husband John of Taunton, and his stepmother Karen Sampson of New Hampshire. His grandmother, Marie Morris of Bridgewater; his cherished children, Kayden (age 8) and Jaxon (age 6); his sisters, Jennifer Camp of California, Jamie Ricciarrelli and husband Timothy of Taunton, Julie Nelson of North Easton; his brother, Christopher Sampson of Brockton; his sister, Kaylyn Sampson of Brockton; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends-each touched by his warmth and kindness. DJ's memory will continue to inspire and unite all who knew him, every single day.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, from 4:00pm – 7:00pm in the Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay St., Taunton, MA 02780. A Graveside Service followed by Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at 12:00pm in the Pleasant Street Cemetery, 190 Pleasant St., Raynham MA, 02767.
