Charles "Charlie" Dyer

Charles "Charlie" Dyer of Raynham, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at Morton Hospital on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. Charlie was the only son of the late Elmer Wilson Dyer and Phyllis Elsie Simmons (Morris) of Taunton, Massachusetts. He was married to the love of his life, Judith Elaine Dyer, for 56 years until her passing in 2020.

Charlie was a 1961 graduate of Taunton High School. Following high school, he began a lifelong career in the oil and gas industry. Over the years he became a respected and well-known figure throughout Raynham, Taunton, and the surrounding communities. In 1980, he founded Dyer Oil Company, which grew into a trusted provider of heating oil and technical services throughout the region. Charlie took great pride in his work and his customers, knowing many of them by name and building lasting relationships within the community he proudly served.

Beyond his professional life, Charlie was deeply committed to helping others. He worked with hundreds of children through youth baseball programs, sharing his time, encouragement, and love of the game with generations of young players.

Charlie was truly one of a kind. When he entered a room, he commanded attention with his presence, humor, and unforgettable storytelling-often referred to by family and friends as "Charlie stories." Growing up in Taunton, he developed a love for fixing and racing cars, a passion that stayed with him throughout his life. He was also an avid fan of baseball and auto racing and enjoyed placing a bet or two from time to time.

Above all else, Charlie cherished his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose larger-than-life personality and generous spirit will be deeply missed.

Charlie is survived by his sons, Shawn Dyer and his wife Kristen, and Jason Dyer and his wife Joan, both of Raynham. He was the proud grandfather of Caiden, Chloe, Mia, and Sydney Dyer. He is also survived by his step-grandchildren Curtis, Cory, and Craig Belanger, along with many extended family members and dear friends who loved him.

Celebration of Life

Friends and family are formally invited to attend a Celebration of Life on March 24, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Christ Community Church, 41 Stevens Street, East Taunton, MA 02718. A reception will immediately follow the service. In Lieu of Flowers Donations may be sent to the Raynham Food Basket, P.O. Box 421, Raynham Center, MA 02767, in Charlie's memory.
