Jean "Dolan" Emsley

Jean Ruth Emsley of Taunton, MA, age 86, passed peacefully on March 3, 2026 at home, surrounded by those she loved. She was born January 27, 1940 to James and Muriel Dolan. Beloved wife of Edward Emsley (deceased) and loving mother of Kelley Gracia married to Paul Sr. and Scott Emsley married to Brenda. Jean was one of nine children: James, Rosemary (deceased), Suzanne, John, Kathleen (deceased), Stephen, Michael, and Sheila. Jean was a 1959 graduate of Taunton High School. Her love and passion for helping others and her community led her to a life of social work and service through Taunton State Hospital. In her retirement, Jean devoted her time and love tirelessly to her family and friends. She was the family photographer, loved summers at Scusset Beach, and enjoyed playing 45 with loved ones. Throughout her life, she remained strong in her Catholic faith. Her love was steady, constant, and unconditional. She is survived by 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren: Erin Jean Distefano married to Vincenzo and their daughter Scarlett; Paul Gracia Jr. and his children, Tanner, Jaxon, Madeleine Jean, and Christiano; Bradley Emsley and his children, Brooke, Cameron, and Hailey Jean; and Ryan Emsley and his daughters, Shyanne, Abigail Jean, Nicole Emsley; and many nieces and nephews. A wake will be held at the O'Keefe-Wade Funeral Home 70 Washington Street in Taunton on Sunday, March 8th from 3-5 PM. Funeral from the O'Keefe-Wade Funeral Home on Monday March 9th at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernard Catholic Church 30 South Main Street in Assonet at 11 AM. Interment St Joseph Cemetery in Taunton. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or the American Heart Association.
