Walter "Nip" "Nip" Slater

On February 22, 1952, Walter Slater, affectionately known as "Nip", was born as the third child to the late Dan and Tholia Benjamin Slater. On July 30, 2025, he peacefully departed this life and entered into eternal rest.

Nip was a hardworking, devoted, and loving husband and father. He cherished his family deeply and was known for his unwavering dedication and kind heart. In 1977, he was joined in Holy Matrimony with Ada Brown, and their union was blessed with three children.

Walter attended Evans County High School and later earned his GED and associate's degree in science from Miami-Dade Community College, demonstrating his determination to pursue education and personal growth. After earning his associate's degree, he began working in construction before fulfilling his dream of becoming a truck driver, eventually becoming the proud owner and operator of TAJ Transport.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ada; his parents, Dan and Tholia Slater; and his brother, Johnny McKever.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, cherished by his children: Tjuana Slater, Alecia Slater of Ellenwood, Georgia, Olenthia Slater of Miami, Florida, and Javoris Slater of McDonough, Georgia; he is also survived by seven grandchildren: Abriane, Edwin, Kendall, Amari, Kyrie, Kevin, and Kane; his sisters: Mary Slater of Statesboro, Georgia and Nita Slater of Miami, Florida; along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and extended family.
