Walter Charles Pitts, 89, of Decatur passed from this earth into the arms of Jesus, Wednesday, January 7, 2026.

Memorial service will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at Sycamore Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers: Donations to Sycamore Baptist Church Building Fund.

Walter Charles Pitts, 89, of Decatur passed from this earth into the arms of Jesus, Wednesday, January 7, 2026. 

Memorial service will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at Sycamore Baptist Church. 

Charles was born September 24, 1936 to Walter Clyde and Charlotte Marie (Kell) Pitts in Carrizozo, New Mexico. He was united in marriage to Nora Laune Branch June 30, 1959 at Sycamore Baptist Church, Decatur, Texas where he was a faithful member for 65 years. Charles proudly served our country in the United States Army. He was a Wise County Dairyman and Farmer his entire life. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be greatly missed. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlotte and Walter; and his brother, John Pitts. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years, Laune Pitts of Decatur; his daughters, Berdessa Saunders and husband Marvin of Decatur and LaVon Pitts Gonzales and husband Manny of Decatur, Son-in-Law Biff Hayes; 6 grandchildren, Dee Green and husband Kyle, Jake Hayes and wife Rosie, Kelsey Scaggari and husband Will; Benjamin Saunders and wife Katie, Walter Charles “Chase” Saunders and wife Ashlyn, and Christopher Saunders and wife Madison; 12 great-grandchildren; extended family and a host of friends.
