Walter Adolph Rasch, 91, of Sweet Home passed away January 14, 2024. He was born May 13, 1932 to Christian and Lydia (Kruckenberg) Rasch in Halliday, North Dakota.
He served in the Army from 1953 to 1955. Walter has lived in North Dakota, Moscow, Idaho, Avery-Clarkia, Idaho, Prescott Valley, Arizona and came to Sweet Home in 2009.
Walter worked as a logger for Potlatch Forest Inc, he also was a carpenter and a heavy equipment operator. He worked on numerous churches, building and repairing in Arizona and the Navajo Nation. His hobbies included scroll saw wood working, bead work and rock hounding.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Eunice (Stratton) Rasch, son Gerry and daughter-in-law Melissa Rasch, granddaughter Meggan (Nick) Bailey, grandson Chris Rasch, sister-in-law Vaughn Rasch and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Roland, Otto, Art, George, Herbert, Albert, Richard Rasch; sisters: Edna Transtrom, Erna Knutson, Agatha Schossow.
Graveside service with military honors will be 1 pm Friday March 1st at Roseburg National Cemetery. A memorial will be 1 pm Saturday March 2nd at the Nazarene Church in Sweet Home. Donations can be made to Honor Flight or Wounded Warriors. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements. www.sweethomefuneral.com
