Walter Rice Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 19, 2025.
PERRYSVILLE: Walter Wayne Rice passed away peacefully on Monday morning, August 18, 2025, in his home surrounded by his family. He was 84.

He was born December 19, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio, to parents David & June (Waechter) Rice, and later graduated from Mansfield Senior High with the class of 1958.

Walt worked at Elder Beerman for 15 years until retiring in 2002 as a job site superintendent.

In his spare time, he took pleasure in spending time outdoors, especially fishing and boating, so much so that he owned a houseboat on Pleasant Hill Lake for 20 years. He also enjoyed farming on his property and wood cutting. Walt was known as a good father who raised his step-children like his own, and an excellent partner and provider.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Linda Rice; his children, Donald Rice and Tonya (Joe) Johnson; his step-children, Andrew (Jennifer) Huffman and Amy (Bill) Bradford; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and his sister, Janet (Alvin) Beer.

In addition to his parents, Walt was preceded in death by his sister Carol Selman and his granddaughter Brittany Eater.

Although no public service will be held in Walt's memory, his family hopes that you will remember him in your own special way.

Snyder Funeral Homes is honored to serve Walt's family and encourages you to share a memory or condolence with them on his tribute page.
